HOW TO MEASURE? Measurements in centimeters.
Use a tape measure as instructed below and compare it with the measurements of the vintage piece you want to purchase. The measurements below should be taken around the entire body, creating a circumference. The numbers are references from the example image.
1. Bust/Chest: Horizontally, outline the bust at nipple height, passing under the armpits.
2. Waist: Wrap the tape measure around your waist at the narrowest point. This is usually just above your belly button.
3. Hips: Trace around the widest part of the hips, where there is the highest protuberance of the bone on the side of the body, passing through the highest part of the buttocks.
Measurements taken with a straight tape, without circumference:
4. Back/Shoulder to shoulder : In a straight horizontal line, across the back, measure from one end to the other, that is, from one shoulder to the other shoulder.
5. Length: This measurement will show you how far it will reach. Put the piece vertically so you can get an idea of how it fits your body.
Top: From the curve of the neck in a straight line towards the floor OR
Bottom: From the point where you usually wear the height of your bottoms, in a straight line towards the floor. This measurement will show you how far the garment will reach on your legs. The height at which you start measuring will depend on the fit of the garment . If it is high-waisted, for example, it will be closer to the height of the belly button. If it is low-waisted, it will start lower.
6. Sleeve: A vertical measurement from your shoulder bone to your wrist bone. This will determine how the different sleeve lengths, such as short sleeve, long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve, will fit you. The measurement you see on the garment corresponds to how far the sleeve will fall on your arms.
7. Hook: Vertically, from the bottom (middle) of the legs towards the navel. This will determine the height of the clasp and zipper so you can choose the height that gives you the most comfort.
